People contact us pretty frequently with this type of problem with their ProForm treadmill. This particular customer did a very thorough job describing the situation, so we wanted to share it. Customer: "I have a proform performance 300 treadmill that isn't working. The console powers up and displays everything like normal. The motor doesn't turn when I try to increase the speed i.e. The belt won't move at all. The incline does work however. I opened it up and the LED on the PCB is not turning on even when Power is on. I did check with a DMM that Power is getting to the board but the LED doesn't come on. With this information, do you have an estimate for what the repair cost will be? How much do you charge to diagnose the problem etc?" Synrgys Solutions: "Thanks for contacting us. You did a very thorough job describing the situation with your treadmill. Are you interested in working in the fitness equipment industry? Your treadmill has a bad lower control board (motor controller). This part failed, most likely, because other parts are worn out and need to be replaced. You can read more about this here, http://www.synrgys.com/synrgys-solutions-service-reviews--treadmill-repair-forum.html#/20150104/sole-f63-treadmill-2007-model-belt-will-not-m-4476956/ Your treadmill probably has a worn out walking belt that needs to be replaced. High friction between the belt and deck caused the motor to pull too much power, and that burned the control board. This is very common. We can get the exact cost of parts with the model number. It will be on a sticker that is visible when the treadmill is folded, either on a frame cross member on the floor, or on a frame member that would be under the deck, if the treadmill were flat (unfolded). It will be PFTL397..... Or PFTL395..... If you can find that and send it to us, then we can get the exact cost of parts. Without that info, we can estimate pretty closely though. Control board: $215 Walking belt: $114 Drive belt (should be replaced when walking belt is replaced) $44. + tax and shipping, depending on where you live. Labor: $215.0 Estimated total: $665.0 This is a pretty expensive repair. Some folks do not want to make it, but if the treadmill is otherwise in pretty good shape, then repair is the best, lowest cost option. If considering replacing it instead, then consider then LifeSpan Fitness TR1200i. $899. http://www.synrgys.com/store/p5/LifeSpan_Fitness_TR1200i_Folding_Treadmill.html Ths is a great machine with a great warranty. To get a similar quality in a Proform or Nordic Track, you would have to spend about double. Please let us know what sounds good to you, and we can go from there. Thanks,"

This time of year, folks are thinking about their 10-15 pounds of extra fluff. Holiday Feasting is the usual syspect for this adipose, even if it's been living rent free on the bones since June. Whenever we found our 15 extra pounds, we're thinking, now more than ever, about how we might unload them- and fast. At least by Spring Break. Clubs, Personal Trainers, Group Classes, and Home Gyms always get crowded and busy between now and March. Get Ready!
