When is it a good idea to save money and do a Do It Yourself treadmill move? When is it better to spend the money and have professionals do it? This is such a great discussion topic for several reasons. Many peope are shocked when they get the price of a professional treadmill move. The shock is totally understandable, because it is an expensive job, often costing several hundreds of dollars. Let's first talk about that for a little bit. Why does it cost so much to have a treadmill professionally moved? Moving a treadmill is a resource intensive job. We need a technician, a helper, a truck, and various pieces of material handling equipment. Two guys and a truck for a couple of hours costs about $300.00. When we move your treadmill, we are also guaranteeing that we won't break it, or damage any of your house furnishings, fixtures, walls, and other property. On top of that, we are fully insured against anything bad that might happen. Still, a lot of folks are surprised at the cost of professionally moving a treadmill. It's just one of those things that costs a lot of money, and there is not much that can be done to really lower that cost very much. DIY is always the cheapest, but with the highest consequences, usually. Hiring some labor guys from craigslist or something is another option, but then you have to be the expert and go through the process of finding guys who will show up and actually be able to do it with out busting up your house or treadmill. Most professional movers will not touch them anymore, because of the huge liability and repair costs when the average Joe Mover Guy goes to move these things. Their insurance providers will not let them. We get a lot of repair business from them when they go ahead and do it anyway. Believe me, we have been through the ringer again and again and again finding the right people to do these jobs. The good ones are gold. So when should you spend the money on a professional move, or do it yourself? If you are getting a $100 garage sale or craigslist treadmill, then you probably don't want to spend $300 to get it home and installed in your basement or garage. Get a couple people and a van or truck with an 8 foot box and move it on the cheap. Before you do that, you can give us a call. We will give you some tips and tricks to help get the job done and minimize the chances it will get broken. It is true that we get a lot of calls, in the Fall especially, from people who have done exactly this. The treadmill worked fine at the garage sale. They bought it. Moved it home. Now it is dead. We want to belp you avoid this situation, so give us a call, we will talk you through it. No charge. if you are buying a used treadmill and spending a couple hundred dollars on it, then maybe you want to give us a call. If this is your treadmill and you spent good money on it and are moving, then you should definitely give us a call. (888) 503.6620

Hi. I have a commercial Nordicktrack treadmill that I own - it weighs about 300 pounds. I need to move it from my old house to my new house - the basement - which is about 6-7 blocks away, in Lindenhurst. What is your advice? Thanks so much

It totally depends upon the user. If the user is experienced he/she will be able to move the treadmill anywhere with or without someone's help. However if someone is newbie and recently bought a treadmill, it's better to contact trustworthy people and let them do the work.
